And students never have to leave our campus.
This whole four year program is available for people that also have day jobs. So you can work full time your day job and then come here and take classes at night.
We have three separate labs. A high voltage lab to the lower voltage labs where our freshmen and sophomores work. Also, we have a building that was given to us by American Electric Power called a control module, which has equipment in it that would be used in an electric utility substation so the students can learn in the bachelor's degree, how to operate that equipment.
It's definitely beneficial having AEP provide all this stuff towards the course curriculum because they know exactly what to look for and what they want out of us. And so by the time we graduate, we have all that experience and knowledge that they're looking for.
The idea lab has tremendous amount of software and machinery. They have the vinyl cutters, they have the CNC machines, the rabbit laser, the 3D printers, and you can create anything that you put your mind to in there.
Students have the option to pursue an internship between their freshman and sophomore year, so they can get real-world work experience. And we have employers such as American Electric Power, who hire a lot of interns.
I work at Malta dynamics in Malta, Ohio which is a fall protection company. And there is a previous student that graduated from Zane State with the same degree that I'm going for, mechanical engineering. They saw his performance in the business and they were like, "This is exactly what we want. We know the schooling she's had. We know she's a good fit for this position," and therefore I was hired.
