Are you a freshman or sophomore high school student who is interested in attending Zane State as a high school junior and senior?
Ask about Zane State's exclusive engineering and business programs just for high school students.
Upon completion, you could earn both your associate degree AND high school diploma at the same time.
Hi. I'm Cody Butler, and I'm a Zane State Pathways to Business Graduate, and a current Ohio State Marketing student. I believe that basically my whole demeanor was a little bit different than my high school at phylo. I was kind of a little bit different everybody else as in like, I was from the country, all right, but I left my countryside, in private at home, and I had other interests. And I knew about the college before that, because my brother actually did the Pathways to Engineering program out here.
So I had no idea about the Pathways to Business before I came out here to enroll. I walked into the office, and I basically got done enrolling for classes. And the lady sitting at the desk, I don't remember her name. But she said there is this new program called Pathways of Business. I'm like, I don't really know what that is. And she told me a little bit about it. And-- I told my mom-- I can do anything with the Business Degree. I really can. I worked a part-time job. I played basketball year round, and I was a full-time college student, and having the best support system around, out of college at home.
There was like a big three of teachers, basically. And it was Dan, Rick Wilkerson and Kim Atkinson. And they would ask, "how we're doing?"Ask, "what's our input?" They would want to hear our side of the program, because we were the first year. It was just great having their support, like at all times, if we needed it. I appreciate it more now that-- I'm at Ohio State. Like my first class ever at 500 students in a lecture hall with me-- I wanted to graduate with the least debt possible, and Zane State was the best path to do that.
So I came out here-- went into Ohio State with 64 credit hours and saved myself a fortune, basically two years of college, which at Ohio State, that's a lot of money. So my freshman year, it's really overwhelming because there's just 40,000 students on campus. And it's just crazy. So then there's an Evolvement Fair that takes place on the oval, and the ovals just all people. And there's stands set up just like just like, Pitch Perfect. I don't know if you ever seen Pitch Perfect, but it's like that, but even bigger scale. There's just booths lined up everywhere.
There was a company called CDW. They're based out of Chicago, they sell technology to like schools, hospitals. They're the lead supplier to the Baltimore Ravens. So there was a coffee chat, after one of our meetings, and I attended the coffee chat and talk to this recruiter. So I applied like a week later I got an interview. And then actually half hour after my final interview, he called me and offered me the position. Zane State just had this whole domino effect on me as a person, and I'm forever grateful for Zane State. Go Bucks!
